Dear Friends,
The Evans Home is proud to announce it will begin immediately assisting children outside the sphere of Virginia Social Services, who are in desperate need. Unlike many EH children, these children have not been abused, but suffer none-the-less. Some of these children are homeless. Their loving parents need temporary assistance in caring for their children while they get back on their feet. These children are falling through the cracks.
The limited support the Evans Home receives from the state of Virginia will not assist with these children. Therefore, the Evans Home must rise to meet the need. The Evans Home Board forecasts that by mid year a large percentage of the children under its care will fall outside the boundaries of Virginia Social Services. The Evans Home facility is capable of nurturing 20 children and 5 alumni at any one time.
The uniqueness of the Evans Home lies in the fact that the children are cared for “like family” without severing natural family ties – in fact, these connections are encouraged - no matter how broken they may appear. The EH staff is top notch and friends of the Evans Home have continually provided much needed assistance since the home’s founding in 1949.
The Evans Home Board feels strongly that we, the citizens of this community must take care of OUR children. They have nowhere else to turn. The Evans Home Board asks you to please help us “Change a Child’s Life.”
- Be our eyes. Notify us when you witness a child in need.
- Stay connected. Send us an Email address to receive regular updates.
- Support the “Change a Childs Life” program.
- Assist us with finding additional supporters. Please pass this letter along with a “Change a Child’s Life” envelop to a friend. And encourage them to assist us with reaching out to the need with in the community.
The Board along with the children of the Evans Home thank you for your time, thought, and support.
